It is with great regret that I inform members of the passing of long time ALAEA member and former staff Councilor of the ALAEA Federal Executive Jerzy (George) Herdzik after a long battle with cancer.  George was predominantly an Avionics Foreman at Qantas Heavy Maintenance Sydney and retired in 2005.

George was a pleasure to work for and was my boss for 3 years.  He didn’t only teach younger Engineers how to work aircraft, he was also a role model on how to grow into a respectful and measured adult.  20 years working for the airline and I never heard a person share anything other than kind words about a George.  Playing pass the pigs at lunchtime will never be the same without him.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, particularly his wife Denise and their five children and extended families. Jerzy will be laid to rest next Tuesday.  Details below.
