The ALAEA met again with Qantas Management on Tuesday in an attempt to progress negotiations on the EA that expired in January 2019.

Qantas seemed to have misunderstood an in principle proposal to settle the EA that was proposed on 2/6/22. Which is a pay increase to take effect from 4/1/22, representing 3% a year for 4 years since we have had a pay rise. They indicated they now need to review the information they intended to present at the meeting.

Qantas continued to pursue their ambit 0,0,2,2% claim, which we advised them continues to be unacceptable to members.

The ALAEA is still trying to obtain data from Qantas to prove productivity increases which we believe offset a wage claim significantly above the company’s 0,0,2,2% giving away Part-Time & Casual caps, no voting on rosters up to and including 10.9 and no customer payments.

Next meeting is scheduled for 17Aug22.

Reminder the PIA Ballot closes 10Aug22, anyone who has yet to vote please make sure you have your say.

In Solidarity,

Peter Gill

Assistant Federal Secretary
