The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association, in conjunction with Snap-on, provides this sponsorship to encourage apprentices and AME’s to continue building on their existing aviation skills. Those who are wanting to build a career path within aviation engineering are invited to apply for this sponsorship. Each year one apprentice and one AME will be successful in being awarded the sponsorship.
Apprentice Sponsorship consists of: –
- A Snap-on Starter Tool Kit.
- $1,500 reimbursement of educational / tooling costs expended towards an aircraft license.
- Upon gaining a first engineering license the initial yearly membership to the ALAEA at no cost.

Provide 2 recommendations (references) from nominators who supervise you at work or in training. Submit a 1,000-word response on the topic of “Aircraft safety is best promoted by …”
Applications open on 4 November 2024 and close on 31 December 2024. The successful applicants will be notified by the 31 January 2025. ALAEA / Snap-on Sponsorship Terms and Conditions:
- Applicable to any apprentice / AME working or training in Australia in the aviation industry.
- The ALAEA’s decisions regarding the Sponsorship will be final.
- Snap-on Toolkit decisions are at the discretion of Snap-on.
- The successful AME has the option of either the expenses paid trip to Atlanta Georgia USA, or $1,500 reimbursement of educational / tooling expenses. (The AME will be the Alternate member of the team. They are not guaranteed to actually compete but in all other respects are a team member. See the Aerospace Maintenance Competition web site for an Alternate’s role within an AMC team). They must notify the ALAEA of which option they prefer on the application form. N.B. Successful applicant will be refunded up to $3,000 for airfare costs, provided a daily living allowance, provided accommodation in Atlanta Georgia, USA and entry to the AMC competition. The ALAEA AMC team needs to be in Atlanta Georgia, USA from 7 April 2025 to 10 April 2025 for the competition.
- The initial yearly membership of the ALAEA, upon the issue of an aircraft engineering license, can be claimed for 5 years from the date of notification.
- Use / suspected use of AI to write the response will void the applicant’s submission.
- ALAEA might contact those who have nominated the applicant.
- Any communication/email relating to this sponsorship that is not sent to ame.sponsorship@ALAEA.asn.au will not be considered.
