Dear Members,
I apologise for the delay since our last update. With several key developments underway, I felt it appropriate to wait until some matters were finalised before writing to you.
Federal Executive Appointment
I am pleased to advise that the Federal Executive has appointed Chris Burleigh as Trustee and Luke Tranter as Virgin Airlines Councillor. These appointments fill vacancies created by recent resignations, and both Chris and Luke will serve in their respective roles until the next general election. A full list of current Federal Executive members is available on our website: ALAEA Executive | ALAEA.
ALAEA Property Update
The sale of our Brisbane investment property has been completed. In its place, we have purchased a new property in Mascot, which we intend to establish as the future headquarters of the ALAEA. For those interested, further details and photos of the new premises can be viewed here: 4.05/247 Coward Street, Mascot, NSW 2020 – Office For Lease – realcommercial
Organisational Restructure
The ongoing restructure of our organisation is progressing well. If you haven’t already, you’ll soon notice improvements as we refocus our efforts on delivering enhanced support to members. To assist in this transition, we are pleased to welcome two new staff members: Rajan Sharma, Industrial Officer, and Liam Fink, Administration Assistant.
Communications
We regularly receive feedback on the need for improved communication, and we’re pleased to be making real progress in this area. Liam has been actively working to strengthen our social media presence. You can now follow the ALAEA on:
• Instagram: @thealaea
• YouTube: ALAEA Channel
• LinkedIn: ALAEA on LinkedIn
• Facebook: ALAEA Facebook Group
In addition, the Federal Executive has approved the development of two pilot episodes of an ALAEA podcast. Stay tuned for more information soon.
Member Roadshows
In parallel with our digital improvements, we are excited to be launching our long-anticipated member roadshows in Melbourne on the 14th of August, and Brisbane on August 21st. These in-person gatherings will provide an opportunity to meet members of the Federal Executive and leadership team, and to share your ideas on how we can continue to improve our service to you.
Importantly, these sessions are open not just to current members, but also to prospective or former members – or anyone with an interest in the future of the ALAEA.
The first roadshows will be held as follows:
📍 Venue: Skyways Hotel
📅 Date: Thursday August 14th
🕑 Time: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📌 Address: 113 Matthews Ave, Airport West, VIC, 3042
📍 Venue: Trade Coast Hotel (formerly the Pink)
📅 Date: Thursday August 21st
🕑 Time: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Please feel free to print this notice and the attached Flyer and post it on your workplace union notice board. I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. We plan to run two 2-hour sessions each day, so hopefully we’ll be able to catch as many of you as possible either going to, or leaving work, or those who’d like to come in for a chat on their day off. I’ll provide more information on other venues and dates soon.
Best Regards,
Luke Murray
Federal Secretary
