May 24 – Aerospace Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day Honouree: Martin Hobson
The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA) is proud to recognise Martin Hobson as the 2025 Inaugural Aerospace Maintenance Technician Day Honouree.
Martin has been a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) since 1976, beginning his remarkable career with his first licence on the Boeing 707. Over nearly five decades, he has brought his expertise to a range of organisations and now continues to share his extensive knowledge at the Historical Aviation Restoration Society (HARS).
An ALAEA member since 1978, Martin has not only witnessed the evolution of the aviation industry but has played a vital role in shaping it—mentoring countless engineers and exemplifying professionalism, dedication, and a passion for the craft.
We extend our sincere thanks to Martin for his outstanding contributions to the aviation maintenance profession in Australia and his ongoing commitment to supporting and guiding the next generation of engineers.
To those just beginning their careers as LAMEs, Martin offers this timeless advice:
“Stay clear of politics and get close to those around you.”
As a small token of our appreciation, Martin will receive 12 months of complimentary ALAEA membership, a $500 Bunnings gift card, and a Snap-on mystery pack.
