As per my recent notice, the Australian Electoral Commission has now concluded the scheduled election of the ALAEA Federal Executive. I would like to provide further information regarding the process, the outcome, and your representatives for the upcoming four-year term commencing 1 July 2026.

In this election, the number of nominations received for each position was equal to or fewer than the number of vacancies. As a result, no ballot was required and all nominees have been elected unopposed.

Your Federal Executive for the next four years will be:

Federal Secretary
Luke Murray

Federal President
Rod Wyse

Assistant Federal Secretary
Mark Gant

Senior Vice President
Matt Whiley

Vice President
Mat Rea

Trustees
Chris Burleigh and Craig Hyde

Qantas Airways Councillors
Rob Chislet, Scott Dresser, Steve Fotoulis, Pat Hildebrandt, Wes Miller and Michael Ward

Virgin Australia Councillors
Dean Fitzpatrick and Luke Tranter

Qantas Controlled or Aligned Regional Airlines Councillor
Matt Paynter

Regional Airlines Councillor
Will Lanting

Staff Classification Councillor
Jade Kops

Unfortunately, no nominations were received for the Helicopter Sector Councillor or General Aviation Sector Councillor positions. These roles will therefore remain vacant at this time.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank the outgoing Assistant Federal Secretary Kevin Baldacchino, Qantas Councillor Eddy Azzopardi, Helicopter Sector Councillor Jamie Edwards, and Staff Councillor Paul Staddon for their professionalism, dedication, and many years of service to the organisation and its members. Their contributions have been greatly valued.

Kind regards,

Luke Murray

Federal Secretary
