We have been contacted by a significant number of members who have recently taken redundancy from Qantas who are experiencing a hold-up accessing their Superannuation. We believe this is not isolated to a few members and is widespread.
We have contacted Qantas and it appears that the delay is in calculating members Final Average Salary particularly around varying Stand Down periods, and getting that information to Qantas Superannuation.
Qantas advise that they have prioritised these assessments and hope to have it finalised “in a matter of weeks”, and you should receive further information directly from Qantas Superannuation.
The ALAEA have made enquiries with the ATO and we are awaiting a reply. we have also been advising members who are not satisfied with the situation to also contact the ATO individually.
