VALE – COLIN LAURENCE BROWN
28 September 1951 – 21 November 2025
The ALAEA extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and former colleagues of Colin Laurence Brown, who passed away last Friday after a courageous six and a half year battle with Stage 4 prostate cancer.
Colin was a long standing ALAEA member until his retirement around seven years ago, and his contribution to the aviation industry spanned more than five decades. He was known for his extensive technical knowledge, his generosity, and the deep respect he earned from all who worked alongside him.
He began his apprenticeship at Air Express in Archerfield in 1968, before relocating to Darwin in 1982, where he worked with NTAW and later Hawker Pacific. In 1989 he transitioned from fixed-wing aircraft to helicopters, joining Lloyd Helicopters / CHC Helicopters, and later Bristow Helicopters. He continued his work in the offshore oil and gas sector, both Darwin-based and FIFO, until his retirement.
Colin leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, mentorship, and friendship. Many of the colleagues he worked with over the decades have since retired, but those who knew him through CHC, Bristow, and the broader helicopter offshore community will remember him fondly and feel his loss strongly.
